felt over wooden subfloorIf you are laying floor over a subfloor you need to install felt or plastic first to block the moisture. You also want to make sure your floor is either running perpendicular or at a 45 degree to the planks you are laying.

Starting a glue down floorWhen starting a glue down floor you will want to space it 1/2" to 3/4" from the wall. This allows the wood to contract and expand. One trick to laying glue down on concrete is to carefully snap a caulk line the thickness of the plank plus a gap from the wall. Then set the first few rows and allow them to dry. That way you can press the new rows without them moving.

Laying the snap down flooringLaying snap down is simply a matter of cutting the wood so the seams don't line up. Many snap down products are manufactured with chip wood and do not handle moister at all. So think about where you are laying these floors. Some product requires that all the ends are snapped togeither then the entire row is snapped into the previous row. Aug 11, 2007
